Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into Sunday evening's two vehicle collision on Highway 26 east of Frog Lake that resulted in serious injuries to two people and a partial closure of the highway for about three hours.

According to OSP Sergeant Duane Larson, on Feb. 27, 2011, at approximately 5:20 p.m. a 1999 Toyota Tacoma pickup driven by Jeri May Larrance Bafford, 20, from Madras, Ore., was westbound on Highway 26 near milepost 63 traveling through a slight curve on packed snow and ice. Larrance Bafford lost control of the pickup and crossed into the eastbound lane colliding nearly head-on with a 1999 Honda CRV driven by Stephanie Clanin, 35, from Bend, Ore.

Larrance Bafford and passenger Aaron W. Kuper, 23, from Redmond, Ore., were transported by ground ambulance to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend with possible serious injuries.

Hoodland Fire Department firefighters had to extricate Kuper from the pickup. Larrance Bafford was later transferred to Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland where she is now being treated. Both were using safety restraints.

Clanin was not injured. She was using safety restraints and her vehicle's airbags deployed.

OSP troopers from the Government Camp work site are continuing the investigation.
