Spend a romantic afternoon at a "Senior Citizen Prom."

Dig into that trunk where you saved your old prom dress or tux. You have time to spruce it up and see if it still fits. No? Well, then it's time to go shopping or get out the sewing machine and whip up another. The prom will be an affair for not only reliving your high school prom by reminiscing and rekindling that old romance, but for perhaps making all new ones! For those "going steady" (married) or going "stag" (widows, widowers, and divorcees), or who may be starting over by taking their "first date", it will all happen at the Lyle Lions Club on Friday, April 1 from 4 to 6 p.m. with live music by Buck Smith, Floyd Ferrel, and Tex Stephenson. The ticket is free, so shine up your dancing shoes...or your toe-taping-shoes for those wallflowers out there...and enjoy a step back in time.(There will also be snacks available to keep up your energy.) Formal wear is optional, but it would be fun, wouldn't it? I.D. is not required.

Columbia Grange #87 -- Guest speakers from Washington State Grange will be in attendance to answer questions, and everyone is invited to discover what grange can do for you and your community. The meeting will be Saturday, March 26, with a noon potluck, 120 Old Highway #8.

"Dear Edwina" is the Dallesport Elementary School play and the performances will be held on Friday, March 25, and Saturday, March 26. The PTO will host a silent auction on each evening, which will begin at 6 p.m. and conclude during each evening's intermission. Winners will be posted at the end of the play. Items include a Craftsman leaf blower, a load of gravel or top soil (delivered), gift certificates from a wide range of businesses and restaurants, health and beauty supplies, and lots of other goodies. All proceeds will go to fund a music teacher at the elementary school for the 2011-2012 school year. To donate items please contact Amber Strain at 541-993-5251 or

Study Circle will meet again Saturday, April 2, at 10:30 at the Lyle Activity Center, after the Lion's Club Breakfast.

How old would you be if you didn't know how old you are?
