The Friends of the White Salmon Valley Community Library invite the community to attend the 37th Annual Holiday Wassail open house to be held in conjunction with the downtown "I'm Dreaming of a White Salmon" holiday celebration on Saturday, Dec. 3, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the library.
Join library staff any time throughout the afternoon for a variety of music by area musicians, art, artisan demonstrations, along with children's craft activities.
he Friends of the Library will be offering a delicious array of sweet and savory refreshments along with their traditional hot Wassail punch to help launch your seasonal celebrations.
Artisans for this year's event include: The Northwest Regional Spinning Association fiber artists demonstrating spinning, knitting and other fiber techniques; Columbia River Quilters' Guild demonstrating quilting techniques, and Aaron Kilgore demonstrating fly tying. Children are invited to enjoy hands-on fun with an assortment of holiday crafts, and activities.
The exhibit to be featured during the Wassail in the library's Sprint/Baker Gallery will be Holiday Quilts designed and created by The Columbia River Quilters' Guild. Meet the quilters and view their works.
The exhibit will continue throughout the month of December and will be available for viewing during regular library hours.
The musical lineup for this year's Wassail is scheduled as follows:
Bob Schwarz on piano throughout the afternoon -- impromptu Sing-Along welcome
2 p.m. -- It Takes Four -- a cappella holiday quartet
3 p.m. -- Columbia High School musicians
4 p.m. -- Kids' Holiday Sing-Along with Steve Jones on guitar and harmonica
4:30 p.m.-- Family Sing-along with Bob Schwarz on piano
Top off the day's festivities with the community tree-lighting downtown shortly after 5 p.m.
