Lyle Halloween fundraiser features paranormal experts, haunted hotel

On Oct. 29

Columbia Gorge Paranormal, a local group that investigates paranormal activities, will be featured at a Halloween fundraiser for the non-profit Lyle Activity Center.

This fun evening of real, live ghost stories will take place on Saturday, Oct. 29, in Lyle at the Lyle Activity Center.

Doors open at 6 p.m. with wine and appetizers. Columbia Gorge Paranormal (CGP) will discuss its ghost hunting work and show off its high-tech gear. There will be time for questions and answers, and for the audience to share their paranormal experiences.

At about 9 p.m., the entire group will adjourn to the local Lyle Hotel and participate in a ghost tour, lead by the CGP team of investigators.

CGP are resident experts on the subject of Gorge paranormal activities. They are a science-based research group whose mission is to assist people who have questions about possible paranormal events or happenings in their lives, and help them find answers. They use high-tech equipment and true scientific techniques to investigate reports of the paranormal. During a paranormal investigation a team of three or more CGP members set up their E.M.F detectors, IR thermometers, digital recorders and cameras, night vision cameras and settle in to capture events. They then work to either explain or debunk, using the scientific method, what they have observed and captured with their tools.

Rich Lyons, CGP team leader, is excited to come to Lyle to speak about their work, hear stories, and especially share his personal experiences at the Lyle Hotel.

CGP investigated the hotel in late 2008 and Rich said, "I cannot even begin to list the things that happened to me on that night."

During the 2008 investigation the team observed first hand many unexplainable events. Rich recalls, "We heard tremendous crashes coming from the kitchen, the sound of feet running, a TV turned on even after we unplugged it, we captured an audible "sigh" that we just cannot explain." The evening will conclude with the entire group traveling to the Lyle hotel for a personal tour with Rich and his team.

Food and beverages will be available to purchase during this part of the event.

Tickets for this event are $25 a person.
