No one was injured in a three-vehicle accident on Aug. 9, 2012, at approximately 12:19 p.m. The accident occurred on State Route 97 at milepost 12, in the city limits of Goldendale.

According to the report, a 1997 International DNR Fire Truck, driven by Jose R. Terrazas, 23, Woodland, made a right turn from eastbound SR 142 to southbound SR 97. A 1998 Freightliner three-axel tractor driven by Rory S. Sofranko, 44, Battle Ground, was south on SR 97, north of the SR 142 intersection. A 199 Peterbuilt tractor driven by Tyrell C. Crummett, 30, Vancouver, was north on SR 97, south of the intersection.

Sofranko's vehicle overtook the DNR fire truck too quickly, Sofranko took evasive action to the left and struck the DNR vehicle in the left rear. Terrazas's DNR rig then struck the southbound guardrail and came to a stop. Sofranko's semi then struck Crummett's semi in the northbound left turn lane. Sofranko's vehicle then recrossed the southbound lanes and penetrated the guardrail.
