Remember this Friday, Dec. 28 is the Lyle Student sponsored Free Taco Feed/Game night from 5 to 6:30 at the high school. The students are sponsoring this event in order to get acquainted with the public and possibly gain bonds that could bring Lyle back to the community it once was; where the townspeople attended the games and school events to show community spirit and pride in their teams. In exchange the students could attend the business meetings and get involved in community activities. For a couple of hours the students are willing to put their texting aside if adults are willing to turn off their televisions, and meet in the middle. Is that too much to ask?

Not interested in football? Memaloose Winery is hosting "The Great Eagle Outing" to be held from 10 to 3 on New Year's Day. Tim Pitz, their returning eagle expert, will be talking about eagles and lead groups on short hikes along the Klickitat. They also plan to ring in the New Year with a lively party on the river. The Fundraiser is a benefit for the Gorge Community Foundation, a $3 million charitable organization that provides funding for many, many critical Gorge non-profit organizations. (More information is available at For a $10/person donation you will receive lots of hor d'oeuvres, free wine tasting, one-on-one time with the eagle pro (and the use of his spotting scopes on the deck), the expert-led walk along the beautiful Klickitat River and general good cheer to welcome in 2013. Walks will commence approximately at 10:30, 12 noon, and 1:30. Questions? Call 360-635-2887.

Parents don't forget to pick up your child's photo with Santa at the Post Office in Lyle. They are hanging in a baggie on the bulletin board. I took liberties in my editing and created single portraits out of some of them, hope you don't mind!

My heart is full. Most of my family is here (or on their way) to share family love. I hope for you and yours the Merriest of Christmas' and the Happiest of New Years...and may God grant you uncountable blessings throughout 2013!
