An audition will be held for the Missoula Children's Theatre (MCT) production of "The Tortoise versus the Hare" on Monday, March 5, from 3:30 to 5:30 at Henkle Middle School.
Those auditioning should arrive by 3:30 and plan to stay for the full two hours. Most of the cast members will be asked to stay for a rehearsal immediately following the audition.
If cast, there is a $35 participation fee to offset the production's costs.
Among the roles to be cast are the wise Tortoise-coach Shelley Bowlback, the conceited Curly Hare, Esther and her daughter Little Bonnie Bunny, the rascally Weasels, the singing service station Ferrets and the scaly Reptiles. Other roles include the Thespian Troupe, Curly's Posse, the TV Crew and the rowdy Curly Hare Fan Club.
White Salmon Valley students, kindergarten through eighth grade, are encouraged to audition. No advance preparation is necessary.
Assistant directors will also be cast to aid in rehearsals throughout the week and to take on essential backstage responsibilities.
The Missoula Children's Theatre touring productions are complete with costumes, scenery, props and makeup. The MCT tour actor/directors will conduct rehearsals throughout the week from 3:30 to 8 p.m. each day.
The Tortoise versus the Hare will be presented to the public on March 11 in the White Salmon gym at 4:30 p.m., as well as two school performances on March 10.
The Missoula Children's Theatre residency in White Salmon is presented locally by the Whitson and Henkle Parent Teacher Organizations.
