The Lyle Hotel is closing for at least a month to give its proprietors a well deserved time off.

Hood River Bridge toll has been raised to $1 for standard vehicle, one way.

The Lyle Lions Club would like to thank the communities of Lyle and Dallesport for the outstanding quantity of food donated for this year's Christmas Baskets. In particular: the Dallesport Fire Department for picking up and delivering the food to the Lyle Lions Community Center, Underwood Fruit for apples and Prosser Farms for carrots. A special gratitude goes to the owners and employees of Grocery Outlet and Franz Bread who assisted us in stretching donated dollars. Your contribution towards the Lyle Lions food baskets helped 80 families in our area have a 2011 Merry Christmas.

It is a tool for staying informed and connected regarding healthy lifestyle, places and community issues in Klickitat County. Healthy People Alliance can work with your community and encourages you to visit their website at The HPA west meeting is on Thursday, Jan. 19, at 2 p.m. at the Pioneer Center, White Salmon.

The Grange has a great history of being the backbone of rural communities and is a great asset to farmers and homemakers across the nation. In order to keep it alive and viable, Tom Gwin, state program chair (lecturer) is coming to Centerville Grange on Jan.27 at 12 Noon to present the 2012 Lecturer/Community Service programs along with Cecelia Hamilton, family living director, who will present the 2012 contests. (formerly women's activities department). Everyone is encouraged to attend.

OLESS and Lyle Activity Center's annual planning meeting is set for Saturday, Jan. 28, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.. Please RSVP to for location and cost of the meal that will be served during the meeting. Everyone is welcome who wish to participate in the annual planning with optimistic ideas and/or constructive criticisms. The LAC's strategic and tactical planning, as well as the annual budget and fundraising will be on the agenda.
