There is a lot of news to report in Trout Lake this week, spring fever must be upon us.
The first Trout Lake Variety Show, brought to you by the Trout Lake Community Foundation, will take place on March 24 at the Grange. There will be a 5:30 p.m. Baked Potato Buffet, followed by the show at 7. The show is in need of extroverts of all ages with talents and party tricks to share. Music to acting to juggling flaming torches, whatever your forte, there is a place in the show for you. Proceeds to benefit the Community Foundation Scholarships. Please contact Marci Shuman at 395-9339 to sign up.
The Trout Lake Community Foundation is also wondering, are there Trout Lake residents interested in returning to school to pursue additional education or support a career change? If you have been a full time resident of Trout Lake for at least two years, then perhaps the Trout Lake Grange sponsored Adult Continuing Education scholarship may be of interest. The scholarship will be administered by the Trout Lake Community Foundation, and is a $500 scholarship designed for adults considering or already in a post-secondary education program. Information and an application form can be obtained from Coralee Warner, or from the Trout Lake Community Foundation website at http://community.gorge.net/tlcfoundation/tlcf.htm. If you have questions, contact Coralee at 395-2218, or Jim White at 395-2585.
In other community news, the Trout Lake Fire department is proud to share that its EMT class has reached its halfway point and is doing very well. The trainees are set to graduate the five-month course in May. The six men and women are learning lifesaving skills that will help make our community safer. Two young women, Krista Clark and Lindsey Scott, both attend Trout Lake High School. The other participants are Katrika Hibler, Mike Kaufman, Jesse Marino, and Kevin Slotterbeck. Thank you for all your hard work!
