Lyle High School Commencement is being held on Saturday, June 2, at 2 p.m. at the high school. Give this graduating class a full house by attending and support them as they receive their well earned diplomas. Remember, they will be our next alumni and will soon be able to vote our futures.

Also on June 2, a "Direct Seller Trunk Show" is planned for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lyle Activity Center, corner of 3rd and Klickitat Streets. Sellers such as Avon, Tupperware, Pampered Chef, are urged to contact Cindy Bluemel at 509-250-3555 to reserve a space for $10. It will be a great opportunity for the buyer to get those graduation or June wedding gifts, as well as a few necessities for themselves.

Places as far away as Timber Valley are calling to be included in the annual 13 Miles of Yard Sales (now county wide) which is coming Saturday and Sunday, June 9 and 10. I've explained that Lyle Community Council & Twin Bridges Museum are no longer affiliated with the organization but will participate only on Saturday at the gazebo in the Lyle Park Place. If you have saleable items to donate call 365-0060. Everyone is urged to use the park for their own yard sales. It's free and a great location for serious shoppers.

Monday, June 11, is the next OLESS (Old Lyle Elementary School Supporters) meeting 7 p.m. at the Lyle Activity Center. Minutes of previous meetings are available at http://lyleschoolbuilding.blogspot.com/ This will be a special meeting to invite all community members to share their ideas for the Lyle Activity Center and Greenspace.

If you missed last week's article, the park is in dire need of more volunteers to help maintain and keep it green and great for everyone. As it is the heart of our community, and used by families every day we all can benefit by keeping it as pristine as possible. The summer maintenance consists of weekly mowing and daily watering but with enough volunteers we can spread the job to enable a volunteer to be responsible for mowing only once a month and/or turning the sprinklers on and off only one day a week. If you wish to help, please contact Lisa Conway at lisaconway@gorge.net or 541 980-0041. Mowers must provide their own lawn mower.
