The October meeting for the High Prairie Community Council provided a tasty soup supper cooked by Debbie MacDonald, the kitchen manager. Fred Neth gave an extensive summary of the plan for a second fire house in the eastern part of High Prairie, off Schilling Road. The plan is for a 40x60 foot building which has a present estimate, for $154,000. Three fire trucks are already purchased. It is required to have at least 11 volunteer fire fighters. Applications are already in progress for both private and governmental grants. A levy proposal will be coming on Feb. 13 in a special election, which proposed a tax raise of the present 44 cents to 66 cents per $1000.
The annual Christmas dinner at the Community Center was announced for Saturday, Dec. 15, and requests were made for signups for decorating, kitchen help and cleanup. The meal is provided free of charge to the community. The details will come soon.
Long time resident Andy Anderson passed away on Nov. 3. Andy and his wife moved to High Prairie in 1986 but had to relocate to Camas/Washougal area in 2011. They are missed.
