Bid awarded for Tohomish overlay project

Granite Construction of Dallesport has been awarded the contract for the City of White Salmon’s 2013 Tohomish Street Overlay Project.

Project engineer Dustin Conroy of Pioneer Surveying and Engineering told the City Council two bidders responded to the call for bids. The city opened the bids on July 25. Crestline Construction of The Dalles was the other bidder.

Granite Construction submitted the low bid, according to Conroy, coming in at $97,611. The state Transportation Improvement Board is providing the funding for the project, which does not include any construction or infrastructure work.

“The cost is a bit higher,” Conroy noted, “because it’s a smaller project that we weren’t able to tack onto a larger project at this time.”

City Administrator/Public Works Director Pat Munyan Jr. said last Friday that Granite Construction planned to start work this week.
