The first day of school is just around the corner, Wednesday, Sept. 4, to be specific, but before the kids head back to the classroom the Community Foundation’s Rummage Sale will be in full swing this weekend. In case you didn’t know, this wonderful fundraiser helps the Community Foundation give scholarships to local kids. The sale runs Friday, Aug. 30, to Monday, Sept. 2, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday will be half off the already low prices, Monday fill a box $5, and Tuesday and Wednesday are free. Your help would be greatly appreciated Thursday to help clean up. Many hands make light work.
Looking for more ways to be charitable? Sept. 14, the Trout Lake CSA Farm is hosting its third dinner and auction to benefit the Trout Lake School Farm2School program, with this year’s auction proceeds going to the lunch scholarship fund. Trout Lake School is gearing up to launch a new lunch program this winter. This fund will go to support kids who cannot afford school lunch. Ticket sales will support Farm2School which connects the classroom to the field; showing kids through field trips, curriculum, and nutrition where the food really comes from.
This year’s delicious four-course dinner and auction will be hosted at the grange. Tickets forms will be available soon at the school office and around town. Suggested donation is $30 to 50 per ticket. Childcare will be available at the school again, $5 per child. Questions, or looking to volunteer contact Kira Fogarty at email@example.com or 395-2169.
September is certainly the month for supporting our kids as they kick off the new school year. If you happen to miss both of these great events, consider helping out the school in other ways. Volunteers are always appreciated and there are a number of ways to help. All community members are encouraged to get involved.
