The Henkle Parent Teacher Organization is seeking donations of Christmas tree stands, ornaments, and lights for next year's auction of student-decorated Christmas trees.
This year's tree auction netted more than $1,000 for student enrichment at Henkle Middle School.
Additionally, the PTO is accepting donations of good-quality sports gear for the All Sports Gear Swap, held during SpringFest.
The Gear Swap is an annual event with great deals on donated and consigned sports gear.
Last year, the PTO raised enough funds to help support a Geography Bee, participation by local students in state and regional math competitions, arts programs, field trips, assemblies, anti-bullying and positive school climate activities, and much more.
Recently, PTO funding helped send a group of art students to the Portland Art Museum to view "The Body Beautiful in Ancient Greece."
The PTO is also partially supporting an all day field trip for the seventh grade to The Discovery Center. Students will hear professional storyteller Will Hornyak tell traditional Northwest stories, and meet with Native American traditional artists in small groups to experience how the native peoples use the natural resources of the Columbia plateau. The trip will support the required social science class, Pacific Northwest History, and a Native American arts project.
To donate holiday items or gear, please bring items to the Henkle office, or call 493-1502.
