Columbia High was victorious its final game of the 2013 prep baseball season on April 30, winning game two of a SWW 1A Trico Division double-header in Ilwaco in five innings.
The 16-6 win left the Bruins (2-12 in Trico, 3-14 overall) in sole possession of seventh place in the eight-team Trico, one game up on Ilwaco.
Dawson Reynier earned the mercy-rule victory with his second consecutive complete-game performance. Last Tuesday’s featured three strikeouts versus six hits and two walks allowed.
Columbia finished game two with seven hits: two by Kyler Riggleman and one each by Reynier, Tanner Rabinowitz, Blake Walker, Jared Garwood, and Tristan Bond.
Ilwaco prevailed in game one, winning it by a score of 6-5. The Fishermen jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, capitalizing on two bases on balls and two CHS errors, then held on.
Kasey Bond led the Bruins at the plate, collecting two hits in three at-bats. Tanner Rabinowitz (two-run triple), Blake Walker, and Seth Bierbower-Kona each had a hit in three at-bats.
Stevenson 11-3, at Columbia 2-5: An outstanding seven-inning pitching performance by right-hander Dawson Reynier, plus some timely hitting, helped the Bruins win game two of the April 23 Trico double-header at Hecomovich Field.
Reynier allowed two earned runs and didn’t walk a batter. Hits by Austin Rabinowitz, Austen Walker, Jared Garwood, and Clayton Gross supported Reynier’s complete-game effort.
In game one, the Bruins fell behind and couldn’t come back. Seth Bierbower-Kona and Lane Munyan led the offense as each supplied a run-scoring base hit.
