With the wetter weather, and fall like temperatures the 2013-2014 season has officially begun for the Trout Lake Quilters. They meet Mondays 10-3 at the Trout Lake Grange from now until the end of March. It's well known that the Quilters design and make quilts for the Trout Lake Fair Board's fundraiser for the annual fair. Many locals and visitors purchase quilts and other items in the quilt room during Saturday Market at the Grange. Saturday Market sales enable the Quilters to purchase supplies for the many charity quilts that the group makes. The Oregon Veteran’s Home, the Salvation Army, Hope Villa and Cello Village among other organizations regularly receive quilts. The Quilters also make original quilts and do restoration work on old quilts, led by Ann Heisler. So come and join them on Mondays and find out more! If you can't make the Monday gathering and would like to contribute to the making or sale of the charity quilts, contact president Jan Nelson 395-2889 or secretary Bobbie Turner at 360-901-6864.
Also this week, at the community council meeting on Oct. 2, 7 p.m., at the Trout Lake School, Jeanne Demorest will be attending with several members of the DNR to discuss the Nature Area Preserve in Trout Lake, any concerned citizens are encouraged to attend. Also attending will be Wayne Vineyard from the Klickitat County Port District.
