The fourth annual Gorge Food Forum will take place at the Hegewald Center & Exhibit Hall at the Skamania Fairgrounds on Oct. 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This daylong event features over a dozen food and farm workshops, and is co-presented by Gorge Winds Community Grocery, Gorge Grown Food Network, and WSU-Extension.
An indoor farmers’ market will happen simultaneously from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Woniya Thibeault, this year’s morning keynote speaker, will present “thriving off the grid through the power of local food.” Thibeault and her partner operate “From Farm and Forest” in the foothills of Mt. Hood. Together they have created a life that allows them to grow or forage most of their food, and they share their passion with others through survival skill building workshops. They sell their meat, foraged goods, and produce to local customers.
Gorge Food Forum will offer morning and afternoon workshops that teach food skills, such as gardening and cooking, and make eating local food easier and more enticing. Workshops will include: Wild Mushroom-ing, The Raw Family Kitchen, Root Cellars Made Easy, Foraging Wild Fruits, Intro to Aquaponic Vege-table Growing, Get to Know the Good Garden Bugs, Food Skills for Self Reliance, and more.
Patrons of the afternoon indoor farmers’ market will enjoy live music and cooking demonstrations. Numerous local farmers will sell their products, giving shoppers the chance the stock up on the bounty of locally grown storage crops, fruit, value-added goods, meat, and more. Kids’ activities will be offered, and a local food cart will be available for lunch options.
