Jackson Porter, 8, of Bingen, dropped off almost 100 pounds of food and clothing at the Coats for Kids bin at Riverview Community Bank in White Salmon on Monday. Porter, who just turned 8 in November, said his mother gave him a choice: receive presents or give to the needy, so he chose to collect donations and give to those who are less fortunate.
Coats for Kids is sponsored by Washington Gorge Action Programs and has placed bins in multiple locations for food and clothing collection. Donated items can be dropped off until January.
Drop-off locations include: Windermere Real Estate in Bingen, CenterPointe Community Bank in Bingen, Umpqua Bank in White Salmon, Riverview Community Bank in White Salmon, Columbia Bank in White Salmon, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in White Salmon, Infinity Salon in Bingen, Todays Chalet in White Salmon, and Mugs Coffee in Bingen. Only employees can donate to the bins located in Insitu. Parents and students can donate at Whitson Elementary School, Wallace and Priscilla Stevenson Intermediate School, and Henkle Middle School.
These are the kinds of stories we love to hear about in the community.
