Margie's Pot Shop received its LCB license this week.

Margie’s Pot Shop at 405 E. Steuben Street in Bingen is one of the first retail marijuana businesses to receive a license to legally sell cannabis, according to a list compiled by the Washington State Liquor Control Board on Monday.

Twenty-four marijuana retailers were notified that their licenses had been approved early Monday morning, according to a LCB press release. After a mandatory 24-hour quarantine period, growers and processors can begin transporting marijuana to pot shops, allowing permitted retailers to begin selling marijuana legally to those 21 and older immediately.

The LCB capped the number of pot shops statewide at 334 under Initiative 502, which legalized the recreational sale of marijuana to adults. The number of marijuana retailers per county was also capped by the LCB with four being allotted for Klickitat County, one of which is set aside for Goldendale and three others for the rest of the county.

Check out this week’s upcoming edition of The Enterprise for full coverage of the grand opening of Margie’s Pot Shop.
