Bette Jean Setters, 77 years old, of Lyle, passed away May 31, 2014, with her family by her side. She passed away after battling a long illness in The Dalles, Ore. She was born Oct, 28, 1936, to Byron and Priscilla Nordstrom in Appleton.
Her hobbies in her earlier years were her horses, horseback riding, fishing, hunting, camping, canning and raising goats and chickens.
She loved being a wife, mother and great, great-grandmother. Her family and friends were always showered with her smiles and love.
Bette is survived by her husband Patrick Setters of Lyle; her daughter and husband Terry and Earl Kuhnhausen of Dallesport; grandchildren Melody West, The Dalles, Ore., Tewaya Lapping of Grants Pass, Ore., Randy Pimley and Kirt McPherson of Dallesport, Travis McPherson of Glenwood, Rick McPherson of Tillmook, Ore., and Conan Lapping of Florida; 10 great-grandchildren; two great, great-grandchildren and many more family members.
Bette was preceded in death by her father Byron Nordstrom; mother Priscilla Box; son Christopher Lapping; brother Alfred Nordstrom; sister Marion Swanson; nephew Randal Snell; great grandson Colton Owen Stembridge Pimley; late husband James Lapping and granddaughter Darlene McPherson.
A celebration of Bette’s life will be June 21, 2014, 1 p.m. at Horsethief Lake State Park/Columbia Hills State Park. We will be celebrating and sharing our memorial with a potluck barbeque for all family and friends.
