Louis Howard Dearing, a longtime resident of Snowden, died peacefully with family by his side on April 12, 2018.
Howard was born on June 26, 1936, to Virginia Zacharias Eastman and Robert Howard Dearing in Patterson, Calif. He had happy memories of being raised on the family ranch in Patterson.
He graduated from the College of the Pacific with bachelor’s and master’s degrees, before becoming an educator and starting a career with the United States Department of Defense schools. Over many years he took pride in his work as a history teacher, counselor, and administrator at schools on U.S. military bases.
He enjoyed being stationed at locations around the world including Japan, Germany, Morocco, and the Philippines.
He met and married the love of his life, Evlory Moleje Dearing, in the Philippines and they lived in Germany before retiring in Snowden. There he enjoyed spending his time gardening, reading, and watching old western movies.
As well as by his wife of 36 years, Evlory, he is survived by his four children: daughter Michele, son-in-law Steve Olson, and granddaughters Mira and Vivian; son Kevin, daughter-in-law Tina, and granddaughters Samantha and Rachael; son Colin and grandchildren Logan, Zachary, and Chloe; and daughter Erica, son-in-law Simeon Seal, and grandchildren Firia, Xavier, and Zuriel. He is also survived and fondly remembered by his cousins and nephews.
Howard was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather and is greatly missed.
A private family memorial service was held May 29, 2018, in his favorite wooded area at his home in White Salmon.
