Frederick Darline Dollar, 82, passed away at his home in Carson on Feb. 17, 2018. He was born in Hood River, Ore., on Oct. 15, 1935, to Hazel Irene (Stott) and Frederick James Dollar.
He married Janice Schmid in 1954. During the 10-year marriage, they had children Diann Beseda of Trout Lake, Glenn Dollar of Vancouver, Kent Dollar of The Dalles, Ore., Candy Fetsch of Trout Lake and Jana Clark of Husum.
Fred went on to marry Jackie Laird in 1965 and became step-father to her two young children. Jackie passed away and Fred married Jan Rakestraw, adopting her son Jack Dollar. They had a daughter, Jill Nishimura of Spokane. Fred also had a foster daughter Bonnie Mitchell of Carson. He and Jan were married for 15 years.
In 1988, Mr. Dollar married his fourth wife, Barbara Algood who had three grown children. This marriage lasted 15 years before Barbara died in 2006. Fred found love again and on April 20, 2008, married Darlene Humpage Dollar, who survives him. Her children are Darlene Bliss, Rose Fennell Bill Onthank, Bob Onthank and Debbie Onthank.
Fred spent the majority of his life driving either a logging truck or long haul. He liked being outdoors, woodworking, doing yard work, riding horses, hunting and fishing. He enjoyed keeping track of his kids, grandkids, and friends on Facebook.
Fred liked traveling in his RV and taking cruises; his favorite cruises being the Panama Canal and Alaska. He enjoyed playing bass guitar and even had his own band for a while. Fred loved people and had many friends.
He will be missed by his wife, children, 12 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service for Fred Dollar will be held at Hegewald Rock Creek Center in Stevenson on Sunday, March 18, 2018, at 2 p.m.
