Mathew “Mat” Scott Coerper, of White Salmon, passed away Dec. 22, 2018, in The Gorge in which he grew up.
Mat was born Sept. 11, 1986, in the Dalles, Ore., to Walter Coerper and Jodi (Goodenough) Coerper.
He attended Hood River Valley High School and Lane Community College.
He was an avid food enthusiast, lover of hikes and fixed gear cycling, a wine connoisseur and master of debate. Mat was a very hard-worker, devoted to his craft; a true artist; a loyal friend; a dependable brother; and loving son.
He had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and a sense of humor that could make anyone laugh. He could diffuse a situation with just a look and his conversations left you feeling better about yourself.
He was survived by his parents Walter and Jodi, his brothers Adam, Christian, and Connor, his baby niece Ellaline and soon expecting nephew, Sutter.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jack and Betty Coerper, Don and Maxine Goodenough; aunt Starla Goodenough; and uncle Daren McCafferty.
The service for Mathew was held at Anderson’s Tribute Center (1401 Belmont Ave, Hood River, Ore.) on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2018, at 1 p.m. A continued sharing and celebration was held at the Rockford Grange (4262 Barrett Dr., Hood River, Ore.). Memorials can be made to Anderson’s for Mat’s family.
Vibrant, devoted, kind… Goodbye, but just for now.
