Bethel UCC Church will offer a movement class for seniors beginning in October.

The classes will be held Wednesday mornings at 10 a.m. in the Grace Hyde Room.

The first class will be Wednesday, Oct. 2. Classes will run throughout the fall.

The focus of the class will be improving balance. The exercises will be based on “Tai Chi for Better Balance,” and on the John Argue Art of Movement Method.

The instructor, Janet Essley, is a certified instructor in the Tai Chi for Better Balance sequence endorsed by Departments of Health Falls Prevention Programs and by Silver Sneakers. She has taught seniors Tai Chi classes for many years at the Mount Hood Towne Hall.

The class will be geared for seniors but anyone interested in Tai Chi and improving balance is welcome to attend. Participants should wear loose and comfortable clothing. People may join the class at any time.

A $5 donation is suggested for each class attended.
