Aug. 28 is the first day of school and with it starts a new sponsorship program at Pioneer Pizza.

Every quarter a new group or organization will receive 15 percent from every Community Pie sold. For this first quarter, Aug. 28 to Dec. 31, it will be the White Salmon Valley K-8 Parent Teacher Organization.

“This quarter will be extra long because we felt it was fitting to start on the first day of school,” says Christiaan Erasmus, co-owner of Pioneer Pizza.

The Community Pie will change randomly, so guests will need to ask the server what ingredients are featured on the community pie for any given day.

The White Salmon Valley K-8 Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is a group of parents, teachers and administrators who strive to enrich student education at Whitson Elementary, WPS Intermediate, and Henkle Middle School. The PTO uses the money it raises to fund assemblies, field trips, student incentive programs, school/grounds improvement, learning materials, the Artist in Residence program, and much more.

Any organization that would like to benefit from this new program can fill out a form at Pioneer Pizza. The recipients will be chosen by the owners based on their answers to some general questions regarding how their group serves the White Salmon Community.

“We are excited to offer this program to the community that we love so much. And we hope that the Community Pie can help our local organizations in a big way,” said Sarah Morton-Erasmus, owner of Pioneer Pizza.

Pioneer Pizza is located at 216 Jewett Blvd in White Salmon and open 7 days a week at 4 p.m.
