Around 2,000 cyclists peddled into Lyle Sunday morning as the first stop of this year’s route for Cycle Oregon. This is the first year the week-long ride has crossed into Washington State after starting in The Dalles on Sunday. Cyclists made their way into Lyle for a quick stop for snacks, beverages, and music before continuing on to Glenwood. In following days, Cycle Oregon continued through Dufur, Tygh Valley, and Madras before coming back to The Dalles on Saturday, Sept. 13. Proceeds from Cycle Oregon, a non-profit organization, go toward the Cycle Oregon Fund. Annually, around $80,000 in grants is offered from Cycle Oregon for community, preservation, and bicycle safety projects, including reconstruction of The Dalles Riverfront Trail, uniforms for The Dalles high school athletes, and more.
