Women running wild in Trout Lake

Running in her first Wild Woman Trail Marathon, Emily Paxson, of Trout Lake, pictured with the “Wild Woman,” finished second in the marathon portion of the day’s competitions. Chelsea Gay of Glenwood won the marathon in a new course record.

The fourth Wild Woman Trail Marathon, 50K Run and Relay was recently held in Trout Lake.

Winners of the 50K were Wendy Wheeler-Jacobs, 5:08, Redmond, Ore.; Michelle Brown, 5:23, Tacoma; Megan Murphy, 5:25, Yakima.

In the marathon, winners were Chelsea Gay, 3:52, Glenwood (new course record and she set the course record for the 50K last year); Emily Paxson, 4:14, Trout Lake (her first marathon); Laurie Crandell, 4:28, Portland.

The winning Marathon Relay Teams were: Cunning Stunts, 3:52, Boise, Idaho; Ida-Hoes, 4:11, New Meadows, Idaho; Hill is a Four Letter Word, 4:21, White Salmon.

First place in every division received a bottle of wine compliments of Naked Winery and a homemade pie baked by Patty Schmid of Trout Lake. Top three in each division all received pies!
