Doreen Louise Spino Mahaffey passed away on July 25, 2019, at the age of 85. She was born Jan. 13, 1934, in Wahkiacus to Louise VanPelt Sconowah Spino and Roy Spino.
Doreen married Benny Mahaffey in Stevenson on Nov. 10, 1952. She was a teachers’ aide and librarian at the Klickitat School and was very involved with school activities.
Doreen was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Klickitat, Ladies Aid, National Women’s Bowling Congress and USBC. She enjoyed bowling, needle work, sewing and gardening. She loved sports and was a Mariners fan, and she also liked attending senior citizen functions.
Survivors include her daughters Linda Hill of Federal Way, and Nancy Perry of Everson; adopted daughter Alison Sconawah; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews of Benny Mahaffey; the children and grandchildren of her siblings who were all dear to her; George Cox and his children; her bowling buddies and Senior Citizen friends.
A visitation will be held at Gardner Funeral Home in White Salmon from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10, with a graveside service at the White Salmon Cemetery at 2:30 and a memorial service at 4 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Klickitat.
